EMC Glands

AP Technology supply an extensive range of EMC Glands from Bimed in the UK.

The Bimed EMC cable gland combines the same IP68 protection and clamping range as the standard nickel plated brass gland but with the added benefit of EMC protection.

The innovative product design delivers features that make the product effective yet simple to install. However should you need to remove the cable, this is just as easy, by removing the glands cap, the cable and gland insert are removed as a single unit.

Easy to use;

1. Fix the cable gland to the panel
2. Remove the outer sheath of the cable to reveal the screen
3. Insert the cable moving the screen up to the EMC spring
4. Lock and Tighten

4th Generation EMC Glands

(low contact resistance on assembly)

Manufactured from Nickel plated Brass the 4th Generation EMC gland from Bimed has been designed and developed from customer demands to have an EMC gland that has a low contact resistance on assembly, to prevent cable damage, accepts a wide variety of cable diameters and delivers an IP68 seal in addition to excellent EMC performance.

The features of this range include:

• Easy insertion with bi-directional cable entry
• Open EMC contact fingers for ease of cable positioning
• Free radial and axial movement of the cable without any damage to the cable.
• Large contact surfaces of the fingers allow for low contact resistance even on loosely woven cable braids.

High contact performance even under vibrating conditions distance.

Special EMC Cable Glands

(with Incorporated Axial Ferrite Beads Inductors)

These cable glands are used when EMI / RFI suppression is required especially for electronic device applications. The interference filter is usually separately added to the existing cable and must be fixed in order to prevent axial movements on the cable.

In this cable gland, the ferrite bead is inserted directly into the gland cap. Hence it s motion is limited by the cap itself. This way, an easy and reliable assembly method is achieved.

The typical impedance values are;

50 - 100 Ώ for 100 MHz applications

40 - 80 Ώ for 25 MHz applications

These values depend on the ferrite core characteristics, hence the bead material can be chosen according to the requirements; Bimed can produce different sizes of glands with different EMI suppression values in relation to the required properties.
